Oh god chapter 316 is going to kill me!

Help!

If the text report is real then Mr. Chen quotes from the driest type of “list of event” literature that is “The Spring and Autumn Annals”. Even the slightly elaborated “Commentary by Zuo” is still in super terse classical Chinese.

This source is incomplete: http://www.chinaknowledge.de/Literature/Classics/chunqiuzuozhuan.html

This source is also incomplete: http://www.anselm.edu/homepage/athornto/zuozhuan.htm

In the meantime I’m trying to research this in Chinese in order to understand the quoted text first! >_>

  1. The commentary by Zuo has been translated to english, if the references are to it it’s possible to find english translations. For other commentarys or the “raw” annals themselves i don’t think they have ever been translated.

Not so much help :) Well, maybe the quotations are short :D

    • Doh that’s a good idea! Thanks.

Now I’ll just have to piece together the titles/names/places… It’s a brain-teaser for sure. XD
Based on the text report it’s a recitation, so there’s simply not enough context for interpretation!

  2. I really wonder where you get the raw? ’cause I allways search raw in 2cat.or.tp, but with chap 316, they seem just post few pages, not the entire chapter TT A TT

    • I guess there could be different sources. I just wait until enough people have seen it online, then words get around. In this case I’m doing a pre-translation based on a text report, not the raws… yet
