Ravaging Times

chapter 313

[?]: The fight in Baima has begun!
(or “Boma”, if you prefer)
[?]: We’re defending three cities!

[?]: Overseer, Yan Liang‘s army has bypassed Baima to take on Advisor Guo Jia‘s troops!

[Xiahou Yuan]: Yan Liang arrived first, as expected.
{Xiahou Yuan}

[?]: Prep the troops!
(“entire troop get ready”)

chapter 313 The High-Ranked General of Hebei
(may be a little too literal, but in context he’s referring to Generals of varying ranks but are “high ranking” or “well known”?)

[XHY]: Proceed as planned.
[?]: Yessir!

[?]: Second cavalry head out!
[?]: Third cavalry head out!

[XHY]: The long-awaited Battle of Guandu

[XHY]: has finally begun!
(“finally commenced”)

[?]: Eighth cavalry engaged!
(“…enter formation”)

[?]: Infantry, prepare to fight!

[?]: Maintain formation! Stay focused!
(“…don’t get chaotic”)

[?]: Second infantry engaged!
(“…enter formation”)

[Guo Jia]: Wei Xu, Song Xian,

[GJ]: Midway.
(“middle road”)
[Wei Xu and Song Xian]: Yessir.

[?]: Wei Xu’s troop engaged!
[?]: Song Xian’s troop engaged!

{sfx: ta~}

[GJ]: Summon Xu Huang.
(or “call Xu Huang” if it won’t fit in the bubble)

[Yan Liang]: Hey hey, those two are more like it.
(did he say “yeehaw”?! XD)

{galloping sfx}

[?]: Look, the midway’s opening up!

[?]: Scatter!

[WX]: Don’t go in too deep, Song Xian!

[SX]: Big deal. When we followed Lü Bu we fought like this too!
(“afraid of what…”)

Yan Liang,

where are you?

[YL]: Hoo.

[YL]: Here!

{sfx: shoo~}

{sfx: cha~}

[YL]: A former high-ranking general of Lü Bu…

[YL]: Pooey.
(“pei”, sounds like “pay”; spit in contempt, not necessarily like “ptoo” where one actually spit something out. I used to translate it as “hell”, but this needs some verbal punch)

[YL]: Encircle!

[?]: Sir! Song Xian died in battle and Wei Xu is trapped!

[GJ]: Did you spot Yan Liang?
[XH]: Yes.

[GJ]: Lock on him and lure him here.

(“pei”, sounds like “pay”; spit in contempt, not necessarily like “ptoo” where one actually spit something out)

{sfx: cha~}

[GJ]: Go.
[XH]: *spit*

[?]: Xu Huang’s troop, engage!
(“…enters formation”)

[?]: This guy’s mine!

[XH]: Aside!

{sfx: cha~}

[XH]: Hit.

{sfx: pong~}

[XH]: Down.

The midway is opening up.

[YL]: Main army, cover!

[XH]: Come!

[YL]: Cao Cao’s high-ranking general…

{sfx: zing~}

[YL]: Pooey.
(“pei” sounds like “pay”)

Be steady even if it takes a long time.
(or “keep firm”)

Only in the cold of winter do we know that pines and cypress are the last to lose their leaves.
