Ravages Afterword
I always pass through one particular area every morning.
No matter the weather, an elderly woman in uniform was always there, breathing heavily while pacing herself and sweeping the streets.
Such is the most common scene in Hong Kong. A senior citizen who could have been enjoying her retirement, but ended up a tragic figure under the leadership of society’s elites.
Seniors have to collect garbage and do janitorial work, years after year, and it’s getting worse.
Remember, everyone, some things you must fight for, but it’s too late for some people.
The scariest thing is, we have already grown blind to it.
The road is very clean, but the walk to work always chills me to the core.
(“…inhale cold air…”)
